How to convert HEIC to JPG

1. Select files. Choose HEIC or HEIF photos, or drop them into the converter.
2. Convert. Pick a JPG quality setting and select “Convert selected photos.”
3. Download. Save each completed JPG or download all successful conversions together.

Will converting to JPG solve the problem?

This tool helps when a computer, app, or upload form does not accept the HEIC or HEIF file type and asks for JPG or JPEG. Renaming .heic to .jpg does not convert the image; it only changes the filename.

If the message says the photo is too large or requires specific pixel dimensions, converting file type alone may not be enough. Check that service's size and dimension rules before trying again.

How this converter works

The conversion code is bundled with this site and runs in your browser. A browser worker decodes a compatible image and creates a JPG for you to download. The converter does not send selected image files to an upload service.

This tool uses a CSP-compatible decoder build; it does not rely on a relaxed Content Security Policy or eval-style execution. Conversion can still depend on the available memory and features of your browser.

Privacy during conversion

Selected images are processed in this browser and are not uploaded by this converter. Previews and converted JPG objects remain available for the current session until you clear the queue or leave the page. Your original file is not changed.

Ordinary page and asset requests still reach the site’s Cloudflare infrastructure. Read the Privacy Policy for the wider site context.

Supported files and limitations

The picker accepts .heic and .heif files. The converter has been validated with standard iPhone camera HEIC photos, but HEIC and HEIF are families of formats: some variants and malformed files cannot be decoded here. Those files show a conversion error rather than being retried indefinitely.

Each batch can contain up to 10 files, with a 25 MiB limit per file. Large photos may require substantial browser memory. JPG is a lossy format, and this converter does not preserve source metadata in the JPG copy.

HEIC vs. JPEG

HEIC is not exclusive to iPhone. Apple devices and supported Android implementations can use HEIC or the broader HEIF family; Samsung documents optional HEIF capture on supported Galaxy models. Support and settings vary by device. JPEG (often called JPG) is broadly supported by websites, apps, and devices. A JPG copy can be more convenient to share, while the original remains unchanged on your device.
